A Team Of Us
Ride Wild are delighted to partner with such significant corporate entities in the Tourism and Cycling world such as Failte Ireland, Tourism Ireland, Trek Bikes and Ride with GPS. Their contribution to this wonderfully exciting cycling initiative adds significantly to the expertise of our Sportif management team headed up by Tour Director Michael O’Boyle. The contribution to the Sportif of all concerned will lead to the continued success of the event and ultimately add dramatically to the experience of our cyclists along the magical Wild Atlantic Way.
Fáilte Ireland is the National Tourism Development Authority. Their role is to support the tourism industry and work to sustain Ireland as a high-quality and competitive tourism destination. They provide a range of practical business supports to help tourism businesses better manage and market their products and services.
They also work with other state agencies and representative bodies, at local and national levels, to implement and champion positive and practical strategies that will benefit Irish tourism and the Irish economy.
They promote Ireland as a holiday destination through the domestic marketing campaign (DiscoverIreland.ie) and manage a network of nationwide tourist information centres that provide help and advice for visitors to Ireland.
Their initiative to promote the magical Wild Atlantic Way as a premium cycling destination saw the collaboration with Ireland’s cycling specialists Ride Wild, and the exciting Wild Atlantic Way Cycle Sportif was born.
Tourism Ireland is responsible for marketing the island of Ireland overseas as a holiday and business tourism destination.
They deliver world class marketing programmes in 23 markets across the world and reach a global audience up to 600 million each year. Targeted marketing activity includes advertising online, on TV and outdoor sites, in cinemas and in newspapers and magazines, eMarketing, overseas publicity, co-operative marketing with carriers and other partners and promotions to the travel trade and consumers.
Their involvement in the Wild Atlantic Way Cycle Sportif entails the promotion of the event through their extensive range of regional offices, located throughout the four corners of the globe, ensuring a truly international flavor to the Sportif. In 2018 we will have cyclists from the UK, France, Sweden, Italy, USA, Canada, Australia and the Middle East.
Trek is the #1 performance bike brand in the world. Their R&D department packs more engineering horsepower than any other bike company, and they're committed to making every one of their road bikes, from hand-built carbon race machines to refined aluminium models, the absolute best in its class. You'll feel the difference, from the first ride all the way to the podium!
Trek are on –board as the official Bike Partner to the Wild Atlantic Way Cycle Sportif, and will provide a number of their iconic road bikes to the Tour, allowing particularly our overseas cyclists the joy of cycling on a top of the range Trek bike rather than transferring their own bike from home.
Also through their extensive dealer network, Trek will deliver the ‘Trek Experience’ to their valued customer base throughout the island of Ireland, through incentives to partake in Ireland’s only fully – supported, multi stage Sportif.
Each of our three designated Host Towns will also host the ‘Trek Roadshow’, where a team of Trek experts will be on hand to demonstrate the very latest bikes in the Trek range.
Ride with GPS was founded by two guys that love writing cool software and riding their bikes: Zack Ham and Cullen King. What started as a years-long hobby project has become a dream job for the lads with an incredible team of intelligent and passionate cyclists.
Launched in 2007 the ethos of the Ride with GPS team is to empower people to get outside, reconnect with nature, and embark on two – wheeled adventures.
The involvement of Ride with GPS with the Wild Atlantic Way Cycle Sportif is in providing the GPS technology for all our route maps. The maps provide wonderfully detailed information regarding each of our Sportif stages, including elevation changes and points of interest along the route.
Ride Wild, the company behind the Wild Atlantic Sportif, has recently been awarded Ambassador status by Ride with GPS. This award is the first of its kind in Ireland and is awarded to companies who not only display an in – depth knowledge of all things cycling, but who also must have a unique understanding of their own specific region, in this case Ireland’s stunning Wild Atlantic Way.
